Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon plant-based oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips. Slice the onion into rings and mince the garlic.
  2. In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce, plant-based oyster sauce, and sugar. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onions until golden brown (5-7 minutes), then set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add more oil and cook marinated beef strips on high heat until seared (2-3 minutes). Add minced garlic.
  5. Return caramelized onions to the pan and sprinkle cornstarch over all ingredients. Stir well to combine.
  6. Drizzle sesame oil over the stir fry and mix thoroughly until heated through.
