  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and ground cinnamon until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. For the filling, combine brown sugar and ground cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  5. Spread half of the batter in the prepared pan and sprinkle half of the cinnamon filling on top. Add dollops of remaining batter over this layer and sprinkle with remaining filling. Use a knife to swirl through gently.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and set in the middle.
